Vladimir Sanakoev: alien among foreigners

2011-01-13 15:02

12249.jpegThe political career of Vladimir Sanakoev, one of the creators of "alternative administration of South Ossetia" that emerged from the initiative of the Georgian authorities, ended sadly and disgracefully a few days ago. It was just another confirmation that official Tbilisi's attempts to "copy" and split South Ossetian elite are doomed to failure since only persons of a very modest scale agreed to take part in theses schemes.

It will be remembered that once Vladimir Sanakoev was considered the closest companion of Dmitry Sanakoev, head of the puppet government set up in Tbilisi as a counter to Tskhinval authorities. Mikheil Saakashvili needed this organization that was named "interim administration of the Autonomous District of South Ossetia" to demonstrate willingness that South Ossetians allegedly had to remain part of Georgia. The organization's secondary activity was money-laundering in distributing considerable financial flows. Leaders of Georgia did really spare no expense on Sanakoev and Co. A whole microdistrict was built near Tskhinval with the pompous opening ceremony broadcast on all Georgian channels.

The performance of this shady enterprise was always negative. In South Ossetia Dmitry Sanakoev and his supporters were called "Saakashvili's dogs" at best and the nickname was an insult to noble four-footed animals. In Georgia Sanakoev was a subject of mockery tolerated only when he had to be shown to a new guest from the West. On the whole, he was kept as something exotic. Look: we have new buildings constructed here, new wine and here let us introduce a "tame" Ossetian to you. Isn't he nice? Looks very much like a real one!

The trouble is that Sanakoev lost his Ossetian self exactly when he took the side of Tbilisi. Only his surname remained. The same is with his teammates - all these karkusovs, jeparovs and others seduced by Georgian money. The failure of "alternative South Ossetia" became evident long before the "five-day war". However, people in Sanakoev's administration still wished to find a position for themselves in Georgia seeking employment in various ministries. But it had little sense. That is why they suddenly started creeping away from the empty manger.

One of such "returnees" is Vladimir Sanakoev, a businessman, a public figure, a TV host and an official - a thoroughly remarkable person of no special achievement though. His business went bankrupt, a pro-Georgian TV channel "Alania" wound up activities and there is no desire to discuss the story of South Ossetian "administration". But Sanakoev takes courage. More importantly, he justifies his traitorous position toward his nation.

As it turns out, he is not a traitor but a brave spy that frustrated Georgia's treacherous plans against South Ossetia, as he told at a press conference in Vladikavkaz. Sanakoev's speech is available though it is not much of a pleasure to read it. Banal excuses in dull words.

His every line reveals fear: what if they don't believe or forgive me? That is why mysterious "employer" from FSS appears as well as spy details of meetings with representatives of Georgia's ruling elite and other detective scenes. On the whole, Richard Zorge, Stirlitz and Anna Chapman must be smoking nervously.

Sanakoev states he personally saved South Ossetia from Georgian invasion in December 2006. Besides, due to his "peacemaking" activities the Russian town of Sochi acquired the right to host Olympics 2014! Please, don't ask how an official from the puppet administrative establishment is connected with one of the most significant events in the history of the great state. Imagination has no logic.
