Saakashvili inventing a revolutionary bicycle2011-02-15 21:09
Last week, Mikheil Saakashvili delivered his annual report in the parliament. Summing up the debate with the opposition, the Georgian president took advantage of the moment to glorify his own country in the electors' eyes. It turns out that bloodless revolutions is a Georgian invention, after which political coups started acquiring "flower" names worldwide. With his eyes downcast, he remarked modestly that mass disorders in North Africa repeat the Rose Revolution scenario. Georgia was named as not the last country in the world that decided to go on a pilgrimage to democracy.
"Unlike other revolutions that are especially fashionable today in the North-African countries we even did not shatter any windows, not to mention victims. We've made this way already; we have reached what these people are trying to reach", - Saakashvili told his opponents in parliament. It looks like by these words he decided to remove a stone from his garden that was carefully put there by those predicting a wave of mass protests in Georgia similar to those in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Algeria and Syria.
According to the Georgian president, Caucasian republic has made a global discovery. In his time, Mikheil Nikolozovitch led by Washington and Soros Foundation proclaimed a Rose Revolution in Georgia, forced the then leader of the state Eduard Shevardnadze to step down from office and get away from the country where true democracy would be developed from then on.
Americans with their tender feelings towards the South Caucasus were quite satisfied with a peaceful political coup in the republic until Mishiko started brawling and fired at South Ossetia from the Grad valley-fire rocket system. Afterwards, they gave complete control over democracy building to a madman and washed their hands.
Of course, Georgian leader believes the reforms in his country to be incomplete. "No way - we started a mental revolution that is far from completion and we are moving towards building an up-to-date and modernized state by 2015", - Saakashvili promised to parliamentarians. In all appearances, by a mental revolution Mishiko means the obligatory brainwashing of each Georgian in the form of nationalistic propaganda.
At this point, "the nation's father" is playing cunning. Firstly, the issues of nationalism at a high level were raised a long time before Mikheil Saakashvili was born. Secondly, the "pro-western democracy" that the Georgian leader is so proud of is very far from the ideal cherished by the developed European countries. From time to time, Saakashvili seems to be inspired by an example of Chinese Emperor Qin Shi Huang, for the new police-ridden state of Georgia very much resembles the barracks discipline with severe punishments that was typical of Qin Empire.
That's not to mention the bloodless revolutions allegedly introduced by the current Georgian president. Having diligently studied Chinese treatises, Mr. Saakashvili evidently considered the pages of the European history unworthy of his attention. Otherwise, he would learn that the name of "bloodless revolution" was first given to a state coup in England in 1688, though it only reflects the nature of the power transfer and does not take into account the war with Jacobites in Ireland and Scotland.
