Circassians ready for war with Georgia2011-06-09 20:36
Georgian authorities, who try to play against Russia by recognizing the genocide against Circassians, got a box in the ear from representatives of the nation whose interests they suddenly started caring for. Chairman of Hase Kabardino-Balkarian public movement Ibrahim Yaganov reconfirmed in his recent interview that Circassians won't agree to any contacts with the state that does not want to recognize Abkhazia's independence.
Let us remind you that Yaganov is rather an influential person in the Caucasus. He became famous in the beginning of the 90s when a detachment of volunteers came to rescue the Abkhaz opposition that was fighting against the Georgian armed units. By the way, the fact that the recent statements of one of the leaders of the Circassian national movement attracted the attention of many pro-government media of Georgia seems to be very surprising in this context. Of course, some of Yaganov's words about Russia can be assessed as rather tough, but is that enough for the local "wordsmiths" to give the rostrum to a person who has been struggling against the republic's authorities weapon in hand?
By the way, Yaganov does not conceal that he and his supporters are ready for another clash with the Georgian Army in case Tbilisi decides to eliminate Abkhazia's independence by force. He underlined that though he does not consider the Abkhaz "worth" of Circassians' protection, it will nevertheless be "the call of the wild". "This is historical motherland, a single space. This is a united nation and the natural feeling of justice will push many young men towards becoming volunteers if need be", - says head of Hase public movement of Kabardino-Balkaria.
Indeed, the connection between Circassians and Abkhaz is more than brotherly. That's why dozens and hundreds of volunteers from Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria and the entire Caucasus in general immediately rushed to defend the republic from the intrusion of the Georgian bandits at the end of last century. They would have come to rescue in 2008 as well when Saakashvili's military machine was ready to turn towards Abkhazia in case of a successful attack against Tskhinval. By the way, Yaganov is paying attention to the fact that he has no intention to come to Georgia and cooperate with the country's authorities until Tbilisi recognizes Sukhum's sovereignty. "20 years ago, after a war in Abkhazia, we took a firm decision that we wouldn't have any relationship with Georgia until it recognizes Abkhazia's independence... I cannot go there until Georgia does it. I cannot betray my dead comrades' memory", - he underlined.
Many Circassians share his position. Communicating with those who were ready to destroy their brothers is beyond the proud Caucasian nation's dignity and it appears that many representatives of the Circassian community will never in their life walk along Rustaveli Avenue and enjoy the beauty of the quay in Batumi, for the current government of the republic makes it clear that it will never agree to the independence of its former territory. That is why Tbilisi's attempts to find various loopholes to expand its influence in the North Caucasus are doomed to failure.
The residents of the region perfectly understand that all the initiatives of the Georgian government in this direction have got double implication. In fact, they are aimed at doing maximum harm to Moscow. By the way, the overwhelming majority of Circassian organizations are not going to give up their communication with Moscow; they simply want to attract attention to their own position.
