The States terrorize Sakartvelo2011-08-24 20:37
Georgia keeps proving its loyalty to America offering its territories as a foothold for military contingent. The National Security Council comes up with a new present for Washington: Georgia will assist its suzerain in struggle against terrorism. The statement sounds precarious - everyone knows US methods to fight extremism all over the globe, including Caucasus. Tbilisi looks more like a technical executor for the support of terrorist underground.
It's beyond Georgia's capacity to compete with Washington in strategic games. That is why Tbilisi was quick to swallow the bait prepared in the White House. It is part of the US national interests to alienate North Caucasus from the Russian Federation. And this task has nothing to do with the small Caucasian republic that needs stability in the region. Otherwise it will be unable to manage the chaos left after departure of US benefactors. Examples of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Vietnam are an empty sound for official Tbilisi naively believing that subversive activities are a benefaction toward a neighbor.
Rearrangement of US actions becomes clear. After the USA suffered a number of defeats in direct confrontation they choose other ways instead of an invasion. Depending on the region it is either sabotage or an economic war. That is why Georgia is needed to boost conflicts in Georgia and give NATO a chance of "humanitarian intervention". That would be easy if not for Abkhazia and South Ossetia with their recognized sovereignties. No wonder Tbilisi and Washington desperately restrain any possibility to consider a legal status of the republics refusing to live under the Georgian yoke.
"Terrorism is a threat that no country can fight on its own. The crucial aspect in struggle against it is regional cooperation - border control and information exchange as well as a country's involvement in international mechanisms whether it is a UN resolution where Georgia is mentioned as an active participant, creation of internal institutions and bilateral relations at the level of cooperation of respective law-enforcement structures, effective communication etc. This report states that Georgia has achieved good results in this direction, and certainly this will foster regional security", - deputy head of the National Security Council of Georgia Batu Kutelia reported cheerfully.
What self-opinion! Washington must extend borders of decency demonstrating that Caucasus swarms with conflicts and US presence is obligatory. So it's little wonder that the USA instigated a slaughter in South Ossetia. Yet, nobody thought Russia that had been very careful in the international arena till then, would interfere. Now that S-300 missile systems are deployed on borders of partially recognized republics, Americans don't feel well at ease. But they have Georgia ready to serve if the goal is to insult Moscow.
