The Georgians Found Ankvab's Assassin2012-03-02 14:22
Is Abkhazian businessman connected to the attempt on Abkhazian President Alexander Ankvab? Beslan Eshba has answered himself.
After the sixth assassination attempt on Abkhazian President Alexander Ankvab there have appeared many versions of the origins of the crime. As reported by the Apsnypress, a certain Georgian "analyst" Irakli Tskitishvili, discussing the reasons for the attempt on the President of Abkhazia, stated that according to information available to him, the attack on Alexander Ankvab "was organized by Sergei Shamba's people, as well as was presumably financed by a certain Besik Eshba".
Eshba Beslan is one of the eminent Abkhaz businessmen. He is the owner of a number of structures involved in trade, fuel business and banking. He is also one of the closest associates of the former Prime Minister Sergei Shamba, who has lost in the last year's presidential election. Eshba was regarded as one of the possible candidates to the head of government if Shamba would have won the elections.
However, the very Beslan Eshba has denied in his address to the Apsnypress these allegations: "At first I did not want to comment such "analytic" nonsense. But when my relatives, friends and work colleagues, alarmed by this accusation, started calling me, I decided to give a short comment. I have nothing to do with this crime. Moreover, like any normal citizen, I condemn this terrorist act against the head of our state, and I think such action of criminals is directed to undermine the foundations of Abkhaz statehood. In addition, I would like to say that our relations with the President Alexander Ankvab have a good working nature. Nevertheless, even if someone still doubts after the publication of this material, I declare that I am ready to answer all questions of investigative bodies dealing with this case".
Recall, the sixth attempt on the President of Abkhazia was committed in the morning, February 22. The car of Alexander Ankvab was exploded during his way to Sukhum. After the blow, the attackers opened fire at his car. The President survived.
When the firing started, the bodyguards of the President covered him with their bodies. Some time after the attack, the President had already been at his office in Sukhum.
As a result of firing the presidential motorcade, two Ankvab's bodyguards were wounded. Later, one of the bodyguards, Pandarus, was brought to the neurosurgery department of the Republican Hospital with multiple shrapnel brain damage. Doctors performed a complex operation, but failed to save his life.
Later in an interview to some media, President Ankvab stated: "Abkhazia is a young state. Like other states, especially being on the way of its development, it faces serious problems. And they are not only the problem of anti-corruption and criminalization, but also extremism and groups, dedicated to extreme measures in the policy".
When the Apsnypress him who could shoot the president, Ankvab said that certain forces could have been found both inside the country and abroad, since "the ties between criminal groups are solid".
President Alexander Ankvab added: "Abkhazia should not become a country where political relations and plans to restore the order would meet an obstacle in form of criminals, extremists and political circles closely related to them".
