Iran's Last Chance2012-03-14 13:09
The situation around Iran becomes more complicated. The U.S. and Israel may deliver a strike on Iran already in April 2012. At the talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made it clear that negotiations of the six mediators to resolve the nuclear issue with Iran, to be held next month, would be the "last chance" for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As reported today by the RBC, the U.S. and Israel may deliver a strike on Iran already in April 2012.
Moreover, according to the Kommersant.ru, the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has asked the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry to tell the government of Iran about the position of the U.S. At the negotiation the six (Russia, USA, Germany, China, Britain and France) will discuss the use of the Iranian nuclear program for military purposes, as well as the possibility of admission of the IAEA inspectors at the nuclear facility in Parchin.
Now, speaking about a strike on Iran on the part of Israel and the United States, the Russian diplomats prefer to use a specific "when" instead of an indefinite "if". The newspaper's source in the Russian Foreign Ministry believes that "the invasion will happen till the end of the year", the edition reported. "Essentially, the Israelis are blackmailing Obama, putting him in an awkward position: either he would support a war, or he would lose support", the source said. According to the Kommersant.ru, an employee of the Russian Foreign Ministry had in mind an influential Jewish lobby.
At the same time, according to the Lenta.ru, the Russian Foreign Ministry does not consider the April meeting as Iran's "last chance". "Everything hinges on the political will, and Russia is doing everything to increase this will", the Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated. However, an official of the Defense Ministry told on condition of anonymity that Moscow has already determined the action in the event of war with Iran. "There is a mobilization readiness for such a development", the source said.
According to the edition, it is still unclear where the April talks between Iran and the six of international mediators will be held. At the meeting, among others issues, they will discuss the upcoming visit of the IAEA inspectors to the Parchin nuclear facility. The IAEA believes that tests of explosives as a part of Iran's nuclear weapons program may be carried out there.
Meanwhile, according to a survey, most of Americans would support military action against Iran if there would be presented evidence that Tehran is developing nuclear weapons, the Newsru.ua reported.
56% of American citizens voted for the military operation against Iran, 39% voted against. 53% of the Americans would support a war against Iran, even if it would mean higher prices for gasoline. 42% of respondents were opposed, the edition reported.
