Government has mined Rustavi2012-06-27 19:29
Construction in the Georgian city of Rustavi is underway nip and tuck. Renovation of the theater was completed recently; construction of the Palace of Sports and recreation park will be completed soon. Mikhail Saakashvili spoke at the opening of the new pool. Also in Rustavi, there will soon appear a new gas-distribution station, which is located directly opposite the living house. Something won't be constructed in the updated city. For example, a school for disabled children.
Authorities of the city of Rustavi, without asking the views of residents of the house number 30 at the Avenue of Peace, approved the construction of gas-distribution station opposite the living house. The future neighborhood doesn't make the residents happy: explosive object is perceived as a time bomb.
"The people resisted as best they could, collected signatures, appealed to the mayor, but the answer was: "The fate of this construction is solved at a such level that you won't manage to do something", residents of the house at the Avenue of Peace say. "We are very afraid of the startup of this station".
"We are told that the station is being built at the highest level, but what guarantees we have? In what state can be gas cylinders of the cars coming to the station? Today many cars are equipped with artisanal cylinders. It will be difficult to tolerate the smell of gas and noise. How will this affect the life and sleep of old men and children?" residents of the house No 30 at the Avenue of Peace say.
An expert on urban planning Kakha Tsutskishvili: "According to its specialization, the station does not match the location of the dwelling. Avenue of Peace is the center of Rustavi, its face. Local residents, as well as visitors, get the aesthetic view of the city from this avenue. It is unclear what was the necessity of building such a facility here. In addition to aesthetics, it would be much safer to build it more distant from the living houses".
In this regard, Chairman of Rustavi City Assembly answered the expert Kakha Tsutskishvili: "I have not heard a reasonable argument why the construction of the facility should be suspended".
"For a long time, not only in Rustavi, but throughout Georgia, no one pays attention to the demands of the people. Perhaps in this century there are countries which have large claims to democratization, but in our country no one pays attention to our needs and desire of the people. When they need our votes, they use various promises and toadying. Personally, I would never have voted for these criminals. But the election winner is the one who holds it; so the nationals win and make out the election results as they want", disillusioned resident of the house No 30 says.
"How can we endure so much injustice? All that was done for the people is destroyed, everything was sold. My son is disabled, he attended an appropriate school, which is now closed", another resident of the house No 30 at the Avenue of Peace told us. We have found out that special school "Balavari" in Rustavi really will be closed soon. But this school is the vital need for children with disabilities who need to communicate with their peers. Indeed, through this communication they feel themselves part of society.
