A toast to Mikheil Saakashvili2012-07-19 15:27
Obscene insult against the President of Georgia is not surprising any more. He is often criticized, sometimes in a cultural form, and sometimes in obscene. But not everyone gets away with it. Three citizens of Georgia, who have obscenely insulted Saakashvili, were detained by police.
After a 45-year-old resident of Sachkhere Emzar Gogolidze has sworn at the president, he got into a hospital intensive care unit. Those who was with him at that time, they were arrested under the Criminal Code for disorderly conduct.
The incident occurred not far from the Sachkhere mountain-training base. Soldiers, stationed there during the training, the citizens of Georgia Emzar Gogolidze, Bacho Macharashvili and Lery Miheilidze have obscenely reviled at the president. The next day they were arrested by the police.
Police pickup, transporting detainees to Chiatura police station, got into an accident. As a result, Emzar Gogolidze was seriously injured. He was taken to Sachkhere hospital in critical condition, where he is now.
Sachkhere is a small town in the Imereti, where the businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili, who has gathered almost the entire spectrum of the opposition in Georgia, was born. In connection with his political activities the Georgian leadership has increased pressure on the residents of Sachkhere region with the help of the police.
"Emzar is honest, fair guy, he has a good family. He does not swear. And if it's true, then he was exasperated", Emzar Gogolidze's classmate says.
"Now he is better", Eldar Gogolidze's brother says. "We are unemployed, and apparently brother had a grudge for this and for the plight of the country. So he expressed his attitude to the president. We do not hire a lawyer, I do not know what will happen, I do not want to talk a lot. My brother had already had a head injury, the accident also caused the complications".
We talked with David Kapanadze, the doctor on duty of the Sachkhere hospital: "He is in serious condition. He has a closed head injury, concussion, hidden spinal and chest injuries", the doctor said.
Ironically, only Emzar Gogolidze has suffered in the accident. The police officers have not got even any scratches.
"A month ago another man was arrested for the swearing at the president", the head of the regional office of the "Georgian Dream" Guram Shukakidze says. "He proposed a toast for the president. In Georgia they propose a toast with beer only to the most infamous man, as a joke or satire, which is very funny. He was imprisoned for this for 15 days. But in the reported they have written that he had been arrested for verbal abuse and resistance to the police".
And in the case of Macharashvili and Miheilidze they have written in the report that they were detained under the Article 116 of the Penal Code (disorderly conduct). The protocol was drawn up without a lawyer. None of the defendants has a lawyer.
Lawyer Tatul Todua, Georgian Young Lawyers Association: "This case is punishable by a fine of 100 lari or a detention for up to 90 days. But current law does not allow protecting the rights of the offender".
