Azeri Public Television or an official's fiefdom2012-09-11 18:53
Another scandal broke at the Azerbaijani state television. Its chairman Arif Alishanov is back in the spotlight. He has refused to broadcast a football match with the club "Neftchi" in the play-off of the Europa League. Because of this, the whole country was deprived of the opportunity to contemplate a fateful match. It has happened because Alishanov demanded an unbearable amount for broadcasting - about $ 750 thousand.
"Respected" Arif Alishanov and his irrepressible craving for profit are back in the spotlight. Mr. Alishanov refused to broadcast a football match with the leader of the Azerbaijani football, "Neftchi", in the play-off of the Europa League.
Meanwhile, the match has proved to be fateful: Azerbaijani club made it to the play-off in the European competitions for first time. But, thanks to self-will of the head of public television, the Azeri fans were deprived of the opportunity to witness the historic for "Neftchi" and the Azerbaijani football as a whole match.
It has turned out that the scandal has been brewing for a long time. Several months ago, the chairman of the AzTV Arif Alishanov demanded from the head of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan Rovnag Abdullayev about 750 thousand of the U.S. dollars for the broadcasting of the Azerbaijani football championship. Abdullayev has refused. Thus, the confrontation between the two officials deprived the Azerbaijani football fans of the opportunity to watch matches of the regular Azeri championship. But this is not the only "mistake" of the state television chairman who runs it as his fiefdom.
The current chairman of Azeri state television is a professional manager. Last Alishanov's post was deputy chairman for economic matters. The main criterion for him was the question of how much he can earn from each shooting. Unfortunately, this applies to all areas, and information programs in particular. It is no accident that chairman's most dedicated person - Faik Gusiev - was appointed as the head of this "front". By the way, according to the talk in the margins of the AzTV, he is Alyshanov's "purse".
Faig Gusiev is also implementing the policy of "fair taking of money". And there was formed a special group of people, consisting mainly of Gusiev's relatives, to prevent this information from the leak. The fact that the vast majority of these "journalists" cannot write a word without help and speak dialect (which is unacceptable for any television in the world) and has no proper voice is annoying the staff of the channel. Another trend, annoying the staff of the AzTV, lies in the fact that relatives and those close to Alyshanov and Gusiev get the highest wages.
Naturally, this situation annoys the majority of the honest and talented employees. Some of them could not stand the pressure and accept such injustice, so they quit at their own request. And those who continued to work, demanding justice, were released from their positions at the request of management.
The last such case took place in early August. That time, twenty AzTV employees were asked to quit at their own request. This was motivated by the fact that contracts between the company and employees had expired. Those who refused to quit at their own request, were threatened to be discharged with recommendations, ruining their subsequent careers. As a result, these employees, most of whom still do not understand the true causes of the incident, have been counted outside of the television.
The above story - this is only part of the list of violations. Apparent initiator of such a situation is the head of state television, who has felt himself a "supreme arbiter" over his employees and has created a "fiefdom", violating the laws of his country. And violation of the law is always fraught with punishment that is sure to come.
