Will ASALA give up?2012-09-14 15:25
Scandal around statements by the anonymous pro-Armenian organization ASALA continues. There has appeared a new letter of the organization stating that ASALA had not threatened Azerbaijani citizens living abroad, and its goal was to restore jurisdiction over the lands of Western Armenia. At the same time, in Armenia, the mythical ASALA is still considered a brainchild of Azerbaijani political creativity. Our author Nadir Shefiev describes Baku's point of view on this story.
Armenian terrorist organization ASALA has stated it had not threatened the citizens living and working abroad, moreover, they even had not sent a letter to Azerbaijani embassy in Hungary. The statement noted that the organization has never had any business with Azerbaijan, and its primary mission is the liberation of Western Armenia (present-day Turkey).
It should be noted that the ASALA was the first organization which had responded to the call of President Serzh Sargsyan to give an adequate response to Azerbaijan in connection with the extradition and subsequent liberation of Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov which had killed Armenian soldier for insulting Azerbaijani people and its state flag.
"This is a typical trick in Armenian politics. We have repeatedly observed the Armenian politicians changing their statements and appeals. This happens when they face serious opposition and cannot implement their delusional venture", the analyst Gabil Huseynli says.
Armenian authorities did not expect a boomerang effect, caused by Yerevan's threats against Azerbaijan and Hungary. International community has unequivocally negatively assessed such Armenia's behavior. So the Armenian politicians decided to resort to their favorite practice - blackmail with terrorist threat.
Statement that ASALA has never dealt with Azerbaijan and its main purpose is Turkey is a lie. Even after the end of the Karabakh war, ASALA claimed the cease of functioning. This confirmed that the militants of the organization were directly involved in the war. And the fact that they have committed terrorist attacks on the territory of Azerbaijan is absolute truth.
The ASALA demonstrated its true face back in the 1970's - during the terrorist attack in the Moscow metro in 1977.
"The organizers were three Armenians, whose names I do not even want to say. Their involvement in the ASALA was proved during the investigation. They were sentenced to death. But even that time the leadership of Armenia was trying to conceal this fact. At the direction of the then head of the republic, the first secretary of the Communist Party of Armenia Demirchyan, none of the newspapers published in Armenian released reports about the terrorist act and its perpetrators. He also hindered the investigation, but later, after the presentation of evidence, he had to agree with the conclusions of the investigation", Gabil Huseynli said.
