Europe keeps investigating the August events
Heidi Tagliavini, Head of the EU Investigation Mission into the Georgia-Ossetia Conflict in August 2008, has come to Tbilisi. She is going to meet with Georgia’s Foreign, Defense and Interior Ministers and have their reports on the August events.
Russian Ambassador’s visit to Abkhazia
Semen Grigoryev, ex officer of Transcaucasian department of the Russian Foreign Ministry and now Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to Abkhazia arrived in Sukhum on December 15. In the afternoon the diplomat awarded a copy of credential to Abkhazia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Shamba.
Lithuania: new government’s old line
On December 9 the new government formed as the result of the parliamentary elections in October took oath. The Conservatives got 6 out of 13 ministers’ portfolios including the key ones: Defense, Economics, Finance and Foreign Affairs. The leader of the Conservative association of Christian democrats Anryus Kyubilyus became Prime Minister.
