Each of the parties interprets Heidi Tagliavini’s conclusions for its own benefit. A little oil was poured on flames by a German human rights defender Otto Luchterhandt who took part in the work of the commission. Before that, he had stated that the West is going to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in future. The probability of such forecast was assessed by the Russian and Georgian experts.
Ukraine’s “lessons of reconciliation”
For the first time this year, the Georgian government announced the necessity of mending relationship with Russia. Before, such proposal could be made only by the oppositional leaders. The official Tbilisi does not rule out the possibility that Ukraine will become a mediator in negotiations with Moscow. The GeorgiaTimes correspondent tried to find out whether this is real.
