US Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia Phillip Gordon stated on his visit to Tbilisi: "Russia's accession into WTO is important to US economy, to global economy and to the Russian Federation". Gordon emphasized though that before accession Russia must solve a number of economic issues with Georgia, already a member of this trade organization, referring to lift of embargo on imports of Georgian wines, mineral water and other products.
