Yesterday, Mikheil Saakashvili laid the first foundation stone of the new government building in Kutaisi. According to the Georgian leader, in a year, first meetings of the Cabinet are going tobe held in the complex. Members of the country’s government will be accompanied by Sakartvelo parliamentarians who are also going to move to West Georgia after the next elections. Georgia’s gas pendulum
Georgia is cute for its ficklessness. Yesterday the Georgian government once again refused to sell obsolete North-South gas main. In spite of the fact that the facility was crossed out of the list of strategic objects in summer, it still is a matter of fuss on a dog-in-the-manger principle. Georgian government accounts this flinging for high interest many states show to South Caucasian countries confessing that the facility won’t be sold though. Already today Shushan Sardanyan, Armrosgazprom (Armenia-Russia) company spokesman announced the group’s plans to take part in the tender if Georgia changes mind.
Georgian prisoner’s letter: “Dear Hatuna, thanks for new teeth”
Minister Hatuna Kalmakhelidze promises free meals, health care and wages to Georgian prisoners. Already now she receives thank-you letters from places of imprisonment that she considers best in the region. What will happen after old penitentiaries are replaced with new ones, TV sets are allowed in cells and hotels are opened for visits of relatives? Then free life will seem a nightmare and nobody will object to total police paradise in Georgia. Certainly if dear lady is not lying, as usual.2010-11-18 15:33
NATO Assembly pleasing Georgia
Resolution adopted by NATO Parliamentary Assembly in respect of Georgia, where Russia is accused of “ethnic cleansing” in the territory of South Ossetia and is called to withdraw its troops from RSO and Abkhazia, has made a great impression on Tbilisi. However, the farther from the Georgian capital, the calmer the reaction to the document is. Will the echo of this decision reach Lisbon where the world leaders will meet at NATO summit or will it fade away, being another West’s dole to Tbilisi?
