Zugdidi that steals honey should beware of crocodiles
The idea of raising crocodiles in Zugdidski region of Georgia has failed. Two years ago, four caimans hatched out of the Argentine eggs in the village of Tsaishi but only three of them survived. They are still unable to get used to the cool climate of Svanetia and would not propagate. Another German-Georgian crocodile farm, Zhakar, where 50 reptiles were allegedly brought last year, has totally vanished. Instead, according to Ministry of Agriculture, the frog business is flourishing, though Armenia has given it up because of unprofitability.
Georgia looking for future and militants in Europe
Indeed, conjurer Saakashvili’s left hand does not know what his right hand is doing. While Mishiko is spreading himself and shouting from all the rostrums that Georgia stands for peace in the whole world and he himself is a white dove carrying an olive branch, the president’s deeds speak for themselves. Saakashvili is a poor peacemaker. It’s not without reason that Moscow, Sukhum and Tskhinval took the breast-beating and vowing and protesting that there will be no more firing in an equally skeptic way. How can one trust a person who is promising peace and getting ready for a war behind the scenes?
Will OSCE emerge from coma?
Coordination of the final document of OSCE summit in Astana is gradually reaching a dead end. The organization may include Georgia’s demands to acknowledge the country’s “territorial integrity” into the final draft. The Russian side that recognized Abkhazia’s and South Ossetia’s independence will never accept that. To add piquancy to the situation Belarus criticizes the summit and views OSCE as a “rod in somebody’s hand”.2010-12-03 18:16
Uncontrollable borders of Georgia
Usually Georgia loses territories as a result of armed conflicts. Still, as it turns out not only chaos and wars reduce the area of the Georgian state. The hole-ridden border and mismanagement steal hectares of near-border lands taking them to neighboring states. “Crawling annexation” of Georgian lands is not initiated by crafty neighbors: it’s Georgia’s lack of resources to control borders. Presently, the republic’s parliament is discussing a special law on near-border territories that, however, will hardly bring serious change.
