Georgian MIA stuck in the bog of imaginary provocations
Official Tbilisi’s cynical attitude keeps one surprised. It turns out that MIA of the republic considers the opening at the Hill of Respectful Salutation of the copy of the Glory Memorial exploded last year in Kutaisi to be a provocative act, purporting that Moscow is trying to convince the public that Georgia does not value the people who died in the Second World War. The regime representatives’ cast-iron logic was discussed by GeorgiaTimes correspondent with one of the leaders of Movement for Fair Georgia Petre Mamradze.
Monument as Putin’s "gift" to Saakashvili
Russian PM Putin personally attended the opening ceremony of the monument "We fought fascism together" in Moscow. It was his idea a year ago to restore the Glory Memorial demolished in Kutaisi in the capital of Russia. He was supported by the Union of Georgians and other NGOs. And today the new sculptural group can be seen in Poklonnaya Gora as an allusion to the arch in Kutaisi. It appeared right on the birthday of the Georgian vandal Mikheil Saakashvili.
Virtual Georgia’s great victories
A year has passed since the memorial to the common victory in the Second World War was blown-up. This year was marked by many events in Georgia. The country kept treading slowly the chosen path of turning into a global Russia-fighting center. So far, it has not achieved much success: Georgia became the world center of the anti-Russian hysterics. The economy has been in a poor condition in 2010; they say the crisis has got at it finally. Still, there is a radiant smile on the face of the Georgian president, just like before. He has found an occupation for his people.
