Black Sea pirates basing in Poti
A Russian vessel has again been detained in the port of Poti two days ago. Georgian side made claims on the crew of Naruksovo dry-cargo carrier, having accused it of polluting the water area with “harmful substances”. Foreign ships are regularly detained in Poti. Only their names are different, while the rest remains unaltered: a police raid aboard, detention of the captain, accusation filing, a court, a fine, a release. As soon as you pay the fine you may go to the four winds. In other words, the port resembles a harbor of civilized pirates.
Subeliani to hide from refugees in Gori
Failing to solve the refugee problem even with force, Georgian authorities decided to drop the issue, as can be seen from aggressive reaction to criticism of the ministry for refugees in mass media and a decision, practically finalized, to move the ministry to Gori. Yet it’s obvious that official Tbilisi will not hide away from people anyway.
Sakartvelo’s economy dead numb
The entire economy of Georgia must be taken out of the hole it is stuck in, as recently decided by the experts invited for a dialogue by the Christian Democratic faction. As a result, the economists presented their view of problems and solutions. Georgia’s potential, as it turns out, is buried in “dead industries” such as chemical industry and mining whose enterprises were sold by auction to foreigners and Russians. The idea is to expropriate the companies and resell them. But it’s unlikely the republic’s government will risk this non-liberal act.
