Mortal secret of Georgian prison
There is an impression that the current governing top of Georgia consists of losers. Should they be on the turf, the horse they would choose would inevitably come last. How else can one explain the fact that any highly-praised and promoted “project” initiated by authorities turns out a shameful nothing? It is said that Sakartvelo has got the best policemen in the world but it is immediately reported that they beat children and send them to prison. It is said that the country is half a step towards NATO but it turns out that its way to NATO is as long as a way to the Moon. The famous Georgian prisons have been trumpeted by the press, while if reality, prisoners die of tuberculosis there.
Subeliani’s personal tragedy and triumph
During yesterday’s debate in parliament the National Movement saved Bakur Kvezereli, minister of agriculture, from opposition’s attack. Today they voted against resignation of Koba Subeliani, minister for refugees who was too smart to omit the story of misappropriated firewood and referred to self-immolation of a refugee woman as to a personal tragedy that cannot serve as a ground for his resignation. This is the way Koba passed his trust test of the “dominant party”.
Sakartvelo cheating on NATO with European Union
Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Georgy Baramidze revealed a big secret to the Georgian society. While the government is spending efforts on entering in NATO, European Union misses Georgia’s attention and is gradually moving away from it. Baramidze perfectly knows that it won’t take a minute to admit the republic in the alliance but to jump into Europe’s lap from the mountains would really be a circus stunt. Besides, Ukraine is pursuing the same aim and is even ahead of Georgia. Should Tbilisi aim the foreign policy vector at Brussels? GeorgiaTimes put this question to member of the2011-03-28 22:15
Non-recognition policy will backfire on Georgia
Georgian authorities naively pretend that the problem of Abkhazia’s and South Ossetia’s independence will be resolved in their favor. Expecting this, Tbilisi does nothing to start a dialogue with Tskhinval and Sukhum and makes aggressive statements against both republics instead. This policy pursued by the country leaders causes bewilderment even in the most loyal part of the population. However, what Abkhazia and Ossetia gets from Georgian politicians are hysterical accusations of “separatism”.
