Ilia II tempted into surrogate
Who does not try to make the Church change the rules of the game these days?.. The Church is demanded to be tolerant to gays, to introduce female priests, to tolerate abortions, cancel "obsolete" sins. Humanists can't put up with the fact that there is this body that sticks to views not impersonalized by tolerance and political correctness. In Georgia too, there are people who want to teach the Church make a difference between sinners and saints.
The States betraying Yakobashvili
Speaking at the international platforms, Georgia has been stubbornly trying to present Russia as an aggressor in the August-2008 conflict. The American sovereign’s money would be regularly received by the republic then. But since that time, Washington has grown a bit alienated from Mikhail Saakashvili and doubts that the latter will be able to illuminate the entire Caucasus with its “democracy lighthouse”. A small return revenge came soon. Georgian Ambassador to the USA Temur Yakobashvili delivered a damnatory speech addressed at the Congress. It turns out that the West has got no proper idea of Moscow-Tbilisi confrontation.
Georgia happy to welcome drugs and terror
Last week Georgia introduced a visa-free regime for a number of Balkan states. From now on Georgians won’t have to waste time in consular lines approving sets of documents and will have a chance to appreciate the beauties of Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The trouble is that Georgian parliament has had another “bright” idea that was not made public immediately: as it turns out, citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan are also welcome guests for Georgian authorities. The borderline innovations are a real threat of terrorism exports growth and increase in drug trafficking from these precarious regions. However, the ministry of foreign affairs of Georgia is calm – since the plan for attracting investors and tourists must be pursued. Yet, attempts to comply with the statistics overlay all related risks.
USA testing Caucasus for revolutions
U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia Tina Kaidanow’s visit to the South Caucasus has rather excited local elites. Her trip resembled an “on-the-ground reconnaissance”. A visit of such high-ranking American official was aimed not only at strengthening Washington’s relationship with the Caucasian republics’ authorities but also at establishing closer relationship with those who might replace them. Russian expert Alexey Vlasov told GeorgiaTimes of the possible consequences of this tour.2011-05-03 19:22
