Georgians expressing their dislike of Kobalia
A curious research was carried out by IPL Sociologic and Marketing Research Center and Association of Young Financiers and Businessmen of Georgia. Sociologists found several respondents at random and offered them to answer simple questions. For example, what kind of economic structure appeals to Tbilisi citizens: European, Singaporean or Chinese and whether their family income has grown in recent years. Interrogators seem to be unacquainted with reality. While Minister Vera Kobalia is trying to introduce a number of unpopular reforms aimed at filling the political elite’s wallets, Georgians are thinking of how to keep body and soul together instead of comparing financial system models.
Robert Sturua survives the tempest
Legendary Robert Sturua was dismissed from the position of art director of Shota Rustaveli theater falling victim to vaunted “democracy in Saakashvili’s style”. It is obvious that the dismissal order of the Culture ministry of the republic was not connected with the great master’s professional activities. The reason was his harsh criticism of the authorities. Like no one else Sturua realized: the Rose Revolution that celebrated victory in the streets of Tbilisi a few years ago has transformed in a dictatorship that brought the state to ruin.
South Ossetia’s hard choice
The presidential elections day in South Ossetia is fixed at last. According to the Parliament’s statement, they will be held on November 13. This technical decision was rather hard to take. The republic was facing a political crisis, for the issue of fixing the date was to be aligned with the discrepancies in the law. Now hardships are over and it’s time for numerous candidates to get ready for pre-election race.
Ecuador ready for recognition?
A number of Georgian mass media report on Ecuador’s readiness to recognize Abkhazia’s and South Ossetia’s independence in the near future. The press refers to president Rafael Correa’s statement allegedly made on his visit to Moscow that this step would facilitate “equilibrium of international relationships and consolidation between countries”.
