Elections in South Ossetia: Second Round
Presidential elections in South Ossetia were held yesterday, March 25. However, the Ossetians failed to elect their new President in the first round - none of the candidates have scored the needed number of votes. The second round of the elections is scheduled on April 8.
Elections in the RSO: Wasted Money?
Last Sunday, South Ossetia was again choosing president. Evening of March 25, the head of the CEC of the republic Bella Pliyeva announced results of the first round. Former head of the KGB Leonid Tibilov took the leading position with 41.94% of the votes. David Sanakoev, South Ossetian Ombudsman, member of Kokoity's team, received 25.36% of the votes. The country believes that Tibilov will become new president. But Sanakoev's supporters believe that Eduard Kokoity won't tolerate defeat "of his candidate".
