Tskhinval goes on with its everyday work2009-06-09 20:48
Private dwellings are being reconstructed in South Ossetia. The builders promise to provide the citizens of Tskhinval with a new shelter by autumn. Commissioning of the Dzuarikau-Tskhinval gas pipeline connecting the young republic with Russia is scheduled for the same period.
The beginning of summer in South Ossetia was marked with the sound of working dredgers, hoisting cranes and jack hammers. This is not at all surprising: according to the overall plan approved in May, by the end of the year it is planned to reconstruct 575 objects, among which there are 36 educational institutions, 19 healthcare buildings and three cultural objects. At present, the constructors are making last amendments to the lists of dwellings requiring partial repair or complete reconstruction, the Vesti TV Channel reports.
Not only local specialists are working in South Ossetia; construction gangs from Stavropolski region, Chechnia and other Russian regions are engaged here as well. "The events that happened here were a great blow to us and we have come to help, so that the people living in tents could sooner return to newly built houses and live a quite and peaceful life", - Ramazan Bairamkulov, a builder from Kislovodsk, says.
The republican authorities are also trying to facilitate the people's life. Almost five thousand citizens in South Ossetia have already received humanitarian assistance. "We continue providing help to those having suffered during the Georgian military aggression in August 2008, - IA Osinform was told by Deputy Minister of Health and Social Development, Chairman of Humanitarian Assistance Committee Givi Tedeev. - We provide the people with clothes, shoes, personal care products, tableware, and food". Tedeev also underlined that the infrastructure destroyed during the August events will not only be reconstructed but is going to be much improved. "There will be seven children's playgrounds in Tskhinval, and also one playground in each of the regions", - he summed up.
By the way, it is the infrastructure that is playing the role of an indicator of the reconstruction pace. This has been recently stated by Minister of Regional Development of Russia Victor Basargin. "Large financial resources are spent on educational institutions and healthcare buildings, - Rossijskaya gazeta is quoting Basargin. - I have set for myself certain indicators to see if the situation is changing. Suppose you come and see that the reconstruction of the Public Health Authority building is completed. But opposite the building you see the republican hospital, where the patients are still received in one ward. One should set the priorities basing on the most important needs of the people".
