Saakashvili Racing to Rescue His Kiev Friend

On 18-20 November the Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili will make an official visit to Ukraine. The Georgian Stationery Office preferred not to make comments on the details of this visit, but the Ukrainian mass media turned out to be more informed on the program prepared for the dear Georgian guest.

As Interpressnews says referring to the Georgian embassy in Ukraine, Saakashvili will meet his Ukrainian colleague Viktor Yushchenko to hold some more officeal meetings. The presidents will solemnly open the new building of the Georgian embassy in Kiev.

As Valery Djigun, the Press Secretary of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at Monday's briefing, during the Georgian president's visit an intergovernmental agreement on будет также подписано межправительственное соглашение о air communication will be signed. The most spicy point of this situation consists in the fact that all activities involving Mikhail Saakashvili must be prepated by the apparatus of Julia Timoshenko who is the main opponent of Viktor Yushchenko at January's elections.

By a strange change the Georgian president's visit will coincide with the visit of the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to Yalta where he will conduct a session of the Committee for Economic Co-Operation with Julia Timoshenko. «At the same time there will be a Ukrainian and Georgian business forum featuring the presidents of the two countries in Kiev», noted Goncharuk, the Vice Chief of the Front Office of the Ukranian president. The Kiev official reminded that in early January'2010 a summit for the issues of power security can take place in Georgia. Isn't it to ostentatious the way the Georgian president's friend decided to show to his Prime Minister who is still «the store owner».
