Tbilisi accuses Gal district police department (Abkhazia) of a hideous crime - torture murder. According to the Georgian media, two brothers were killed as a result of "continued ethnic cleansing by Abkhazians" that Georgia's minister for reintegration Temur Yakobashvili persistently reminds of. What really happened in Gal can't be jointly investigated by Sukhum and Tbilisi representatives. Abkhazia quit the Geneva talks refusing to act as a setting for the show of Tbilisi projects.
Journalists in Tbilisi called the tragic event in Gal district an assault on the Georgian family reporting that Andzhaparidze brothers, civilians, faced an act of uncontrollable revenge of Abkhaz policemen and Russian militaries.
As Rustavi-2 informs, Rafi village (also Rep in the Abkhaz language) was the site of the tragedy. Representatives of Gal's anti-terrorist center led by David Lolua attacked the Andzhaparidze family. After three hours of torture Ruslan Bakba beat Gogita Andzhaparidze to death. His brothers were severely beaten. Vepkhia was taken to Abudzar hospital to be connected to artificial respiration unit. Malkhaz Andzhaparidze was moved to hospital in Gal and died today. Other family members are in a Tbilisi police department.
According to this version the "occupants" demanded Andzhaparidze to plead guilty to murder of Dmitry Katsia, Rep's administration head whose car was shot at by the unknown persons on June 4. The car owner died at the scene of the incident. Three days earlier a car in Dikhazurga village was attacked. Customs officers inside the car were heavily wounded. Abkhaz prosecutor's office initiated criminal cases for "terrorism" and started hunting for the criminals.
On the day of Katsia's murder somebody put on fire several homes of local Georgians in Dikhazurga. Saakashvili's government named it "punitive operations against Georgian population" calling for an international investigation.
How did the inquest on Katsia case arrive at the Andzhaparidze family, and can the brothers be considered innocent victims? Beslan Arshba, head of Gal district administration told GeorgiaTimes that three family members had been caught carrying Kalashnikov rifles, one of them with a silencer.
