RF Prosecutor-General’s office in charge of Tbilisi’s fake2010-07-30 19:09
As Georgian media repeatedly reported, some Russian official confirmed "Russian aggression against Georgia". This time imagination of Mikheil Saakashvili's supporters has gone far beyond all limits. Tbilisi even tried to interpret the RF Prosecutor-General's statement on a spy in South Ossetia in its favor.
What can be more scandalous than a statement that Russian General Prosecutor's office confirmed invasion into Georgia? Similar headlines have already appeared in Georgian media: "Bagapsh confirms" and "Kosachev confirms". But this is pure nonsense that the Russian authority having volumes of evidence of the Georgian government's criminal activities in August 2008 would suddenly justify Mikheil Saakashvili's crimes in South Ossetia.
It all began from an official note on Edward Gobozov, a Georgian spy, reported by Russian news agencies. The Prosecutor's office of the republic of North Ossetia - Alania has already taken the criminal case against him to court.
This Russian citizen used to work as head of department of troops service and security of armed forces of the Ministry of defense of South Ossetia. From 2004 to 2009 from the territory of the republic he conveyed "information on quantitative and qualitative strength, deployment and movement of troop units of the RF Defense Ministry and Border Service of the Russian Security Service in the Republic of South Ossetia to use them in prejudice of Russia's external security"
He did all this for a remuneration from Georgian special services. The crime is qualified as high treason against Russia. The trial will take place in Vladikavkaz.
Why are Georgian journalists rubbing hands with pleasure? According to them, Marina Gridneva, spokesman of the RF General Prosecutor's office quoted by Russian media, unintentionally acknowledged invasion of Russian troops in South Ossetia. Tbilisi's reasoning is this: otherwise what was so "secret" in Gobozov's reports for Georgia if before the August 2008 war there were no Russian troops in the territory of the breakaway republic?
Georgian experts don't take the peacekeepers in account since, as they think, they are not part of "troop units of the RF Defense Ministry" belonging to "the Russian contingent of Mixed Peacekeeping Forces".
