UN has appointed its new Secretary General’s Special Envoy to Georgia. This post is now occupied by diplomat Anti Turunen who has got the reputation of a perfect diplomat in the Western countries. New-York believes that his skills and experience were especially obvious in the course of the settlement of the crisis problem in Georgia when Finland was the OSCE chairman and Turunen was Head of OSCE Permanent Council. John Hall has reached Batumi

The US coast guard ship named John Hall has entered the port of Batumi in order to take part in the joint maneuvers with Georgia in the Black Sea. In the course of the maneuvers, Tbilisi and Washington are going to practice the sea rescue procedure and methods of struggling with the illegal migration. The Russian MFA and Sukhum have already stated that they would thoroughly watch the training sessions of the Georgians and the Americans.

Recently Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili delivered his annual report in parliament emphasizing that the policy of European integration shall not be altered and promising to liberalize the country’s economy and hold model local elections in May. A humble version of Georgian first president Zviad Gamsakhurdia murder sounds more and more credible. In early February Konstantin Gamskahurdia went to Moscow to bring oral testimony against second Georgian president Edward Shevarnadze who supposedly ordered death of his predecessor. Yesterday it was ex PM Tengiz Sigua who testified against his ex chief. Shevarnadze has been summoned to parliament.
