Tbilisi getting ready to stab in the back?2010-09-01 16:12
Many subversive and terrorist groups are being trained in the territory of Georgia. They are expected to make subversions in the territory of South Ossetia and Russia. This has been stated by Tskhinval, while Tbilisi asserts that the armed provocations on the part of Saakashvili's regime are out of the question.
It has been long rumored that after the crushing failure of the large-scale military aggression against South Ossetia in August 2008 Georgia is switching to the tactics of subversions and provocative acts. However, the rumors had quite tangible grounds. In Tskhinval, the sounds of firing of the American weapon handled by not always steady Georgian hands have become history, while abductions and shooting of villages in the South-Ossetian territory adjoining Georgia are still reality. Besides, the Georgian side does not shy away from causing damage by open plunder: reports on the cattle allegedly stolen from South-Ossetian citizens by people of Sakartvelo are almost daily.
Not so long ago, the RSO government has made a statement that subversive actions of Saakashvili's regime will not be limited to stealing fat cows. First, the president of the republic reported at the security officials' meeting that a number of special training camps have been set up in Georgia to train the members of the future subversive groups, including the natives of South Ossetia. According to Eduard Kokoity, their aim is to destroy or cause maximum damage to the most important infrastructure facilities in the territory of South Ossetia and Russia. Later on, the topic was dwelled upon by Chairman of CSS of the republic Boris Attoyev. He said that the Georgian side is training subverters at the camps for refugees from Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Well, a blow to the regional security, whoever it is initiated by, is really important for Georgia's current leaders. If the wave of terrorist acts covers the South Caucasus Russia may lose the status of one of the major players in this spot of the world. Moscow will attract everyone's criticism for its alleged "detach" of South Ossetia and Abkhazia from Georgia and being able to ensure security neither in their territory, nor in its own. Besides, the coming Olympics in Sochi are also menaced: one could hardly imagine a more attractive spot for terrorists.
