The blood of Georgian ambassador as parliamentarians’ miscalculation

2010-09-02 14:19

6982.jpegGeorgia and Azerbaijan are exchanging vows of love and readiness to jointly build confederacies. Still, the new head of the Georgian diplomatic mission in Baku Irakly Kavtaradze has been kept from execution of office for several months running. According to the leak in the media, the delay of agrement is explained by the fact that Azerbaijani suspect the Georgian ambassador to be a disguised Armenian.

A request for an agrement, which is an official recognition of the new ambassador's full powers, is a delicate thing in diplomatic relationship between the countries. The speed of its issuance indicates the level of relations between the countries, while any delay may be interpreted as an actual denial of candidate.

And now, in the context of the non-stop talking about partnership and cooperation, Azerbaijan takes time to issue an agrement to Georgian Ambassador Iralky Kavtaradze, who was nominated by the president and approved by Georgian parliament this April. According to Azerbaijani press, it is explained by the fact that Baku has discovered Kavtaradze to be of Armenian origin. The reaction of many Georgian experts to the version was paradoxic.

"Kavraradze is not the original surname of the newly appointed Georgian ambassador to Azerbaijan. He is of Ossetian nationality. Still, the Azerbaijani side suspects Kavtaradze to be not an Ossetian but an Armenian by blood", - political analyst Mamuka Areshidze explains.

President of Georgian diplomatic mission Soso Tsintsadze does not think Azerbaijan's version to be groundless either:
