Saakashvili putting down Georgian cuisine

8856.jpegGeorgian cuisine is one of the best in the world but it seems to stick in Mikheil Saakashvili's throat. It turns out that Georgians are unable to cook fish and meat except for shashlik. It's time to break the cooks' inveterate consciousness and introduce stakes, hamburgers and hot-dogs, as well as produce domestic digestible sausages, so that peeping from behind the mountains, the lazy bones and "occupants", that is, Russian soldiers would die of envy.

Mikheil Saakashvili, just like Rubic-jan with the Yerevan dolma (stuffed vegetables), doubts that Georgians are capable of cooking anything more dainty than shashlik and fried fish.

"We are proud of our cuisine, and that is fair, for Georgian cuisine is unique but we do not know how to process two basic food components, fish and meat... We can only fry fish and, except for shashlik, don't know how to properly process and cook meat", - Saakashvili stated during the ceremony of awarding one of the best restaurants in Georgia, Mtskhetis Salobie, located in Tbilisi outskirts.

Judging by the restaurant name, the main dish here is beans. The restaurant was awarded the status of "the people's restaurant" for maintaining rather low prices even in hard times.

However, what is cooked for people seems to be not quite good for Saakashvili, so he hailed criticism upon cooks, having called to improve their cooking techniques.

"Life goes on; we should be constantly learning. In due time, Sukhishvilis (founders of the Georgian National Ballet) took the Georgian folk dance and made a new product of it and brought it to the international level, that's how Georgian cuisine should develop", - the president ordered.

However, Georgian cooks did not rush to improve their skill immediately. The more so, as Georgian restaurant-keepers are sure that they offer sufficient variety of food. "I assure we cook very well at our restaurant, - GeorgiaTimes was told at the Stary Metekhi restaurant. - We've got a variety of national dishes. If I try to enumerate the dishes, I will count to a thousand. Just come and try them!"
