Saakashvili feeding people with fake2010-10-26 20:40
Imagine a state on the verge of political, economical, humanitarian and many other catastrophes, which government has launched war on its people that ended tragically for a huge number of population in the whole region. Let's add an openly mocking and contemptuous attitude to the government of such country not only on the part of its neighbors but of a significant lot of the world community. What do people feel for their government, in your opinion? The answer becomes obscure when the Georgian president together with his American friends enters the path of sociologic battles.
According to a social poll held recently by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner research company, 67% percent of the Georgian population support the policy line carried out by head of the state Mikheil Saakashvili. The opposing side comprises just 28% of respondents. The more so, as in some fields the support of the ruling regime, according to the poll, reaches a figure that might be envied even by Turkmenbashi and Kim Jong-il. For instance, when asked about the government's method of solving the unemployment problem, 83% of the pollees stated their positive attitude to the "party's policy". It looks like the poll initiators demanded a service record or an employment contract from their respondents. There is no other way to explain the people's positive opinion of the
authorities' unemployment control actions, especially that fifty percent of the population is unemployed.
However, one would hardly expect a different result of the poll. The Greenberg Quinlan Rosner company has long since been tamed by the Georgian government. Moreover, Americans would hardly confine themselves to sociologic support of Mikheil Saakashvili's regime. In due time, there came the details of their activities in the Ukraine where the GQR advisors took part in the pre-election race on Victor Yushchenko's side. It looks like US consultants decided to focus on supporting the "rose" revolutionists in Georgia after the failure of the "orange project".
Secretary General of the Labor Party Soso Shatberishvili, a well-known Georgian oppositionist, agrees that the results of the mentioned poll were predefined. "There is a saying, he who pays the piper calls the tune. Now Saakashvili is enjoying the "tune" but the Georgian people have got nothing to enjoy", - Shatberishvili underlined in his interview to GeorgiaTimes correspondent.
