Vashadze’s new breakthrough to nowhere2010-11-02 14:28
Georgian FM Grigol Vashadze scores a new diplomatic victory. Due to his efforts, another world country has acknowledged Sakartvelo's territorial integrity within "internationally recognized borders". Thus, Montenegro graciously allows Georgian leaders to continue pursuit of geopolitical phantoms of the past.
The diplomatic triumph took place at the time of Montenegro FM Milan Rocen's visit to Tbilisi. Last Friday Sakartvelo FM Grigol Vashadze and his counterpart from this republic held a briefing that was followed by promulgation of the Balkan state's position on the issue. The diplomats also mentioned a number of arrangements reached on the visit of the Adriatic guest.
"Today we have considered all agreements that have been formally established between our countries as well as necessity to deepen bilateral relations. We have provided our colleague with information on Georgian-Russian relations and Georgia's foreign policy plans. He, for his part, presented foreign policy priorities of his country", - Grigol Vashadze stated. Next year, as he went on, the two states will hold political consultations. In spring Grigol Vashadze is expected to pay a visit to the ex-Yugoslavian republic. For the first time the Georgian official of such a high rank will come to the country. According to Vashadze, this is the beginning of a new stage in relations between Georgia and Montenegro".
Georgia is on friendly terms with Montenegro and reality needs these relations to spread also to the economic sphere", - the head of Sakartvelo diplomacy said.
"The visit envisages signing of a cooperation treaty between ministries of foreign affairs of two states", - the minister from Montenegro chimed in.
Milan Rocen gave another good piece of news to Georgian people: Tbilisi has appointed first Georgian ambassador in Podgorica. However, the Georgian envoy is homeless so far - he has no permanent residence yet. The guest from Montenegro expressed hope that Georgian ambassador will be officially presented at the time of Grigol Vashadze's official visit.
Tbilisi parliamentarians were not left on the periphery of the intimate communication between two officials. Vice speaker of Georgian parliament Mikheil Machavariani promised to create a group of friendship between Sakartvelo's legislative body and the parliament of the small Balkan country.
