USD 222 as sex penalty2011-01-24 15:13
For your information: if you wish to make love in a car in Georgia you must have USD 222 on you. This is the amount to be quickly passed through the car window to a policeman so that he didn't cut you short at climax. Penalty for lovemaking in a car has been introduced in the Caucasian country for the first time. Patrol policemen will be in charge of catching lovers and defining the penalty amount. Tragicomic events à la Mexican soap operas served as a precondition for this novelty.
Tbilisi has witnessed something that shocked the entire country. Even most gifted soap opera scriptwriters would hardly have invented anything like that.
The prequel to this Georgian tragicomedy would start like this: "They grew up together since early childhood. They were most loyal and inseparable friends whose relations transformed into something bigger. Only years after they will understand that this "something" is a crime that will sooner or later be revealed by their relatives. But they could not fight the passion they were possessed with when together. The passion that ruined them in the end".
So we have a girl and a boy that grew up together. A logical thing since they are cousins. But at a certain point in life their friendship stopped being just kinship. They became lovers, basically. Apparently passionate lovers. They could not pacify their feelings. And one day they took a car, went to the city center, stopped near Saint Nicholas church and began making love. The end was not what the lovers could think of: the girl died of a heart attack right inside the car.
The scandalous incident attracted attention of the police that decided to interfere introducing an official ban on public sex thinking that USD 222 is the right amount for the penalty that will stop lovers from lovemaking on hay in old barn like in old times.
Still, it looks like a half-measure. Following the logic of the police, there must be also penalties for lovemaking near religious buildings and for incest. Another strange thing is that exact amounts of penalties have not been defined yet. Probably, they will depend on circumstances: the age of lovers, their social status, family ties or probably on the pose that moral policemen will find trespassers entangled in.
It is unknown what happened to the young man whose cousin and lover died under such indecent circumstances. Most likely he is in Georgia no more.
