Trump wound Sakartvelo round skyscraper2011-03-15 19:01
Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili is still on his visit to the United States. The local mass media already tagged the agreement for the construction of two premium-class skyscrapers signed with the billionaire Donald Trump as one of the successes of the Sakartvelo leader's American voyage. However, the enthusiasm turned out to be, mildly speaking, a bit exaggerated: even the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not know at whose expense the buildings will be erected. Now all Mishiko's hopes rest upon the international fair of tourism in Miami, where he will speak on the investment appeal of his country.
Trump Tower and Trump Riviera will be the names of the skyscrapers in Tbilisi and Batumi. It is planned to spend 250 million dollars on their construction. The project includes hotels, casinos, exhibition centres, shops and even a marina in the Black Sea.
While speaking at the press conference dedicated to the document signing, the American billionaire Donald Trump was lavish of praise for the Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili. "You are a real idol of the whole Europe and the whole world, - RIA Novosti cites him. - What has done this man is really unprecedented. The United States of America must be proud of having such a partner: the world's reformer No. 1 in the recent five years and the first fighter against corruption".
Saakashvili was quite favourably disposed, too. He called Trump one of the greatest personalities one can meet in this world, an intellectually curious and interesting person. "I thank you for the changes you are making in your country and in the whole world, including my country", Mikhail Nikolaevich did not conceal his warmness to the businessman.
Mutual reverence is, of course, good and pleasant. But was it worth giving all those thanks to Trump for the contract, if the construction will not be committed to the Trump Organization but to the Georgian Silk Road Group Georgia, with which the so-called license agreement was signed? According to "Voice of America", if Donald Trump signs such a document, in most cases he just gives his consent to use his name and takes part in the project management. In essence, this information was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic. The Deputy Chief of the Georgian Foreign Service Nino Kalandadze stressed that she did not know if the project would be financed directly by Trump.
