Georgian authorities in wait for New Year surprises2008-12-30 14:09
On the morning of December 28 according to the reports of the Georgian media Abkhazian criminal groups attacked a bus going from Gali village to Zugdidi. In particular "Our Abkhazia" site informed that the locals used this bus to take products for sale to Georgia. Supposedly this was what the assaulters needed. Some other Georgian sources repeated the same criticizing the separatists' outrage. However according to the comment of Georgia's State Minister for reintegration Temur Yakobashvili the Abkhazians unexpectedly turned into Russians. The minister explained their hunt for products by total hunger in the occupational troops.
"Incidents taking place in the occupied territories indicate degradation of the current situation, - he is quoted by ghn.ge. - The Russian army as well as the occupied population has no food. Russian militaries try to compensate for the shortage at the expense of the locals. The incidents that frequently occur near administrative borders are caused by this fact".
It will be remembered that a day before there was local shooting on the border between Georgia and South Ossetia.
On the evening of December 27 Deputy Defense Minister of South Ossetia Ibrahim Gasseev stated to Interfax that a Georgian special unit had been deployed not far from Tskhinval.
"According to current information today the Georgian special task squadron was brought to Ditsi village close to the South Ossetian border. In order to prevent provocations from the Georgian side South Ossetia's units reinforced their posts in the areas near the Georgian border".
Needless to say all this was disproved in Tbilisi.
"This is sheer disinformation. No additional police units were brought to Ditsi village today or on previous days", - Georgia's Interior Ministry official representative Shota Utiashvili stated to "Interfax". According to him dissemination of this disinformation is a preparation to a New Year provocation act.
By night this area was filled with intensive shooting. According to Utro.ru Shota Utiashvili declared that on Sunday night the post of the Georgian police at Koshka circumjacent village had been attacked by fire from the territory of South Ossetia. As a result a local police officer, Lavrenty Panchulidze, was seriously wounded and taken to a local hospital.
Now it was Tskhinval to contradict the statement. Deputy Defense Minister Ibrahim Gasseev explained the incident by a drunken tussle.
"At 22.30 shots were heard from the Georgian village of Distsi.
