Saakashvili flunked Lithuania’s exam2011-05-05 18:50
Тhe entire world may turn its back of Mikhail Saakashvili and his country but the Baltic States tied to Georgia by a strong nationalistic idea will remain loyal to their associate to the last. Once again Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė arrived in Tbilisi to confirm her country's strong support of Sakartvelo's territorial integrity. However, she warned that the Georgian leader is not so much eager to enter in the Euro-Atlantic structures. Otherwise, how can one explain that Mishiko never did his "homework" set by Washington?
According to the recent tradition, Mikhail Nikolozovitch arranged an excursion of the cultural places of the Georgian capital for Ms. Grybauskaitė where he made a photo together with her. It is notable that the presidents also visited Tbilisi Puppet Theatre. The Georgian leader must have decided to make a visual demonstration of the working scheme of the ruling regime in the Caucasian republic for his colleague. Of course, all these efforts of Saakashvili's were purposeful. This year, Lithuania has become chairman of OSCE. This post was recently held by Kazakhstan that treated Sakartvelo's authorities' initiative of adopting a resolution in respect of Russia without any optimism, while now Mishiko is cherishing a hope that he will be patted on the back. And he finally
got his favourite sugared pill.
"Lithuania supports Georgia's territorial integrity in the context of international agreements, as well as the process of Euro-Atlantic integration. In my conversation with the Georgian president I underlined that Lithuania has been supporting the Georgian nation and will support it in future and that it wishes to share its experience with it", - leader of Lithuania underlined. But words do not mean much if they are not followed by deeds and the Caucasian republic decided to show everything the "lighthouse of democracy" is capable of.
At first, Minister of Economy and Sustained Development Veronica Kobalia was pushed forward as heavy artillery in order to turn the scale towards Georgia. "Of course, we are going to use this visit. This visit demonstrates the strong relationship between our countries. It is no secret that the Baltic States and Georgia have got closest relationship, both political and economic", - she commented upon Grybauskaitė's visit while delivering a speech at IV Economic Forum in Astana.
