Washington Left Tbilisi in the Past2011-06-27 20:54
The French trip of the Georgian Vice Premier Georgy Baramidze showed once again that the Georgian authorities continue operating last century categories. The formulations of the official lost their topicality so long ago that his French vis-à-vis probably required all their politesse not to ask: "What backblocks have you come from, dear friend?" Tbilisi is sure: if one suffers for long, something will come to hand. But the Georgian authorities will have to suffer alone as the world has quite different trends.
Understanding that his stuck record has no more effect on French politicians, Mr. Baramidze decided to "go to the masses" and gave an interview to the Paris newspaper Le Monde.
However, this political Neanderthal is hardly more interesting for ordinary French citizens than to the local authorities. The more so as he is capable of nothing except transmitting double-dyed Russophobia. And all this happens while Russia is providing thousands of French residents with jobs due to the agreement for purchasing "Mistral" helicopter carriers.
"This is a political theatre. The time has come for the West to recognize the failure of its tactics to refuse calling occupation with its name three years ago. Not only Russia is not leaving the territory, it does not let European observers work there. Moreover, Russia has placed the "Dot U" missiles in South Ossetia and "Smerch" ones in Abkhazia. Russians do not hide themselves, they are quite cynical and flout at the cease-fire agreement of 2008 more and more" , - Baramidze piped the same tune. He just forgot that the West remembers who made all his politics fail three years ago. Which is mentioned in the report of Tagliavini's commission. And now, when even Washington does not consider Saakashvili and his companions as serious partners any more, and the highest priority task of Brussels is that of saving Greece not to let the whole European zone dive-bomb into a new financial crisis, the Georgian bureaucrat may point at any "dots", both in Ossetia and on the Moon, the effect will be the same, i.e. zero.
Anyone else would understand it and keep silent but Georgy Baramidze who had not managed to obtain anything from the politicians could not hold himself.
