Russian servicemen are again "exposed"

2009-01-14 12:07

Indeed practically all Georgian politicians that appeared on TV mentioned necessity of access of the EU observers to Abkhazia. Georgia is not happy with the UN mission that has long been in the area of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict. It is not very friendly to Georgia unlike the OSCE mission. The UN monitors register only facts. That is why they did not pay attention to another "information outshot" of the Georgian authorities.

Back to the issue of forcing people out of their homes it's worth mentioning that yesterday the opposition accused Georgia's government of eviction of 30 refugee families.

As stated by Christian Democratic fraction leader Georgy Akhvlediani at the press conference the actions of the government evicting refugees from the ex administration building of Krtsanissky district of Tbilisi can be regarded as violence and barbarism.

According to the deputy the policemen forced 30 refugee families out of the ex administration building. Many of them had been refugees since early 1990s, the time of the war with Abkhazia, and some families residing there acquired the refugee status following last August events. The Christian Democrats are outraged by the fact that the government evicts refugees without providing them with any alternative accommodation.

There were the refugees themselves at the press conference stating that they would not like to resort to extreme protest measures but now they are having too many problems which the government is in no hurry to solve.
