Sacrifice at the altar of “Russian threat”

Sacrifice at the altar of “Russian threat”. 19033.jpegAustere Themis of Georgia has severely punished the "terrorists" allegedly involved in a series of last year's explosions in Tbilisi. Eugeny Borisov, a mythical major of the Russian army, as it was expected, was sentenced in absentia, and his imaginary "accomplices" from Abkhazia were given real prison terms from 2 to 30 years. The demonstrative beating organized by the country authorities looks more like a show - what else will Mikheil Saakashvili invent to remind of the "Russian threat"?

Georgia has its own opinion on last year's terrorist acts in Tbilisi that resulted in the death of a 58-year-old woman and a number of injuries. And this opinion differs from the version repeated by mass media. Not long ago local TV was actively rotating Enver series featuring Gogita Arkania, "the executor" that lives in Gal district of Abkhazia and her five accomplices. As alleged, these bandits recruited by the Russian armed forces, organized explosions at the Labor party office in Javakhishvili street. Above mentioned major Eugeny Borisov, whose photo is in Georgia's ministry of interior, "forced" Arkania to commit a series of explosions in the capital of Georgia by way of "threating her and her family". This is what Saakashvili and his team tried to convince

Georgians of.

Yet, this fast fake invented by Vano Merabishvili's ministry caused nothing but laughter. Firstly, as early as last August Borisov left Abkhazia upon expiration of his contract. Secondly, the experienced "GRU agent" does not need to use Defense ministry telephone numbers for conversations that were allegedly intercepted, or Russian blasting fuses. Thirdly, deductive ability of deputy interior minister Eka Zguladze is astonishing: immediately after the explosions in Tbilisi she stated that the terrorist acts had been organized by Russia. A real show, isn't it? As once remarked by Ruslan Harabua, an expert of the Caucasus department of the Institute of CIS Countries fairytales about Russian terrorists is a staged show. "As for officers of the Main Intelligence Directorate and Abkhazians from Gal district, I want to assure you that Abkhazians are not involved in the story", - he highlighted. - I read the surnames of the detainees - all of them are Megrels".
