Let us remind that Georgia cut off the gas pipeline, leading to South Ossetia, during the August conflict.

Yesterday the Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, met PACE head, Luis Maria de Puig, in Moscow.

At these negotiations special attention was drawn to the problem of the gas blockade of South Ossetia by the Georgian side.

In conditions of a highland winter it (the blockade) causes even more suffering to people the region, already suffered from Georgian attack, the statement of the Ministry claims.

It was mentioned that the Council of Europe and its organs, including the Parliamentary Assembly, might urge Tbilisi to stop this practice and eliminate obstacles to rendering humanitarian aid to victims not only in Georgia, but in South Ossetia, the document highlights.
