USA intend to provide their troops in Afghanistan via Georgia

The USA will transport non-military cargoes for US troops, deployed in Afghanistan, via Georgia and Azerbaijan.

According to General David Petraeus, USA Commander, U.S. Central Command, the agreements on cargo transit to the US servicemen were signed with Russia and a number of bordering states - Regnum. The General shared no details.

According to Petraeus, cargo is agreed to be directed to Georgia, Azerbaijan, then transported by sea to Aktau (Kazakhstan), later - to Afghanistan , via the territory of Uzbekistan.

According to the US Central Command, the work on this direction of the route has been developed for a long time. Previously the major part of cargo was delivered through the territory of Pakistan, where the columns were often attacked by Pakistani islamites.

At the same time, today Army General Alexey Maslov, Russian chief military representative to NATO, Russia agreed neither with the USA nor with the alliance to transit cargoes via its territory to Afghanistan. "No official documents to prove Russia's consent for transit of the US and NATO military cargo via its territory has come to the permanent representative office of Russia to the alliance yet", Maslov said - ITAR TASS.
