Yakobashvili discovers America2011-09-14 23:14
Georgians must be immune to the lies of their government and mass media they control. Despite Saakashvili's talent for self-publicity, efficiency of his propaganda is not as it used to be. Though he is verbally supported by curators from Washington and Brussels, people are more and more secure that Mishiko has lost his trump card - support of the West. Temur Yakobashvili, Georgian ambassador to the USA, has to convince his nation of the opposite.
The former minister for reintegration was sent to far-away America out of harm's way when it became clear that he is as good at "reintegrating lands" as Saakashvili is at creating war strategies. Judging by criticism of Georgian authorities from Washington, Yakobashvili is not good at diplomacy either. No wonder, though: Saakashvili's gang is of the same batch. The only thing they do really well is robbing their country. Making this unlucky reintegrator useful, the demagogue from Tbilisi decided to involve him in his propaganda activities - hoping people of his country that have no more trust in his lies will believe the words of plenipotentiary ambassador that has access to Washington rooms. In an interview with PirWeli agency Temur Yakobashvili tried to convince his
compatriots that Americans won't betray Georgia in favor of Russia's interests. And that their support for Moscow's WTO accession is not the indication of it.
"The USA have a clear stand: they favor Russia's WTO membership since it's a civilized form of relationships, but that does not mean that Russia will definitely become its member. The USA have two strict positions here: if Russia wants to accede WTO, it must come to terms with Georgia and the USA are not going to give Georgia to Russia as a free gift. Second, Americans want Russia's WTO membership to be approved of on the basis of consensus and support of all WTO members", - the former minister assured. But the fact that he again repeated things said by Saakashvili's team many times, points to the opposite. The United States don't need to do anything to "offer Georgia as a free gift". Demonstrative alienation from the negotiating process between Moscow and Tbilisi and evident support of Russia's bid that the White House shows means that the States surrender Saakashvili to Kremlin. After all, the dictator from Avlabari is nothing without his string-pullers from Washington. He is nobody and he has no name. He is reckoned with only thanks to the authority of the White House.
