Democratic postures of Mikhail Saakashvili2011-09-20 13:45
In Gori, the National Defence Academy of Georgia was opened. Mikhail Saakashvili became the first speaker in honor of its opening. In his speech, he said that Georgia's got her borders from God, he's once again predicted the split of Russia, he spoke of why he loves the military more than the ballet dancers and spoke exciting of in which pose you should not lie down with your enemy. In other words, the opening ceremony was cheerful.
Saakashvili has an amazing feature. He turns any forum into a circus ring with equal ease, where he plays the role of the clown, even if it is totally inappropriate: the Georgian president is sharing with the audience his thoughts, guesses, and aphorisms, which would do honor to any circus clown. It is a pity that because of this style it's too unlikely to regard seriously to everything that happens in Georgia.
The other day in Gori, Saakashvili attended the opening of the National Defence Academy of Georgia. No one can doubt that the country needs such academy because the level of the army should be raised. The war of 2008 proved that the military of Sakartvelo can march well, can beat the weak and defenseless, but is absolutely unadapted to the actual fighting.
The Academy really deserves a good word. It's equipped with modern material and technical base, there are a library, conference hall and sports hall, a residential building, two playgrounds - open and closed, an infirmary and a pool at its territory. The Ministry of Defence will pay for the training of cadets, and they, at least as stated, will be provided with apartments, health care, food and uniforms.
The impression from the opening of the complex was spoiled by Mikhail Saakashvili, who could not tune into a serious mood. For a start he made it clear that the cadets look like nothing but a silly monkeys. "Nobody tought us to climb the tree, we must learn it ourselves" - Saakashvili said, but he didn't explain how this can help you during fighting. It's also unknown what he meant when he said "And we'll learn how to climb the trees despite this will take a time and a great education". Of course, how can you climb the trees without a diploma.
Further, Saakashvili declared his love for the military comparing them with ... ballet dancers.
