Pressure of the rule forced Iveria to stop broadcasting
2009-01-23 18:45Iveria TV company stopped broadcasting in November 2008 under the pressure of the rule, said Georgiy Andriadze at the joint conference with Kakha Kukava, one of the leaders of Georgian Conservative.
According to Andriadze, in December the management of the company addressed the national commission on communications with a request to grant a license for broadcasting, but faced the refuse.
The opposition regards this decision as another step against the freedom of speech.
"While one TV company - TV company Maestro - had the license returned, another had its license suspended, in secret from the people", Andriadze noted.
He believes that Iveria ,an important institution protecting national and Christian values, fell victim of the governmental reactionary group, betraying national interests.
The Conservative party joins the legal demands of Iveria TV company and urges the national commission on communications to consider the issue of granting license to the company.
Otherwise the Conservative intend to report to international organizations and turn to go to the international court.
