Israel found justice on Georgia2011-10-05 14:57
The story of businessmen Frenkel and Fuchs, sitting in a Georgian prison, threatens to spoil relations not only between Tbilisi and Tel Aviv but also Georgia's reputation on the world stage. Embassy of Israel in Sakartvelo expressed its indignation at conditions in which prisoners found themselves. And Nino Burjanadze said: Saakashvili managed to destroy something that has always seemed to be strong - the friendship of the Georgian and Jewish peoples.
The scandalous story of Israeli businessmen, thrown into Georgian prison, is gaining momentum. Recently, it became clear that Zeev Frenkel had a heart attack. The attack occurred due to the fact that drugs, which were to be passed to him, stayed in the office of the prison doctor and did not reach the addressee.
"Prior to September 13 Frankel was in Ksani establishment number 15. September 13, he was transferred into Gegutskaya prison without explanation, and his medications stayed in Ksani prison. September 14, we sent medicines to the prisoner who didn't get medicines necessary for him from the prison authorities, but they didn't reach their destination. September 17, we once again sent medications, but the situation repeated. As a result, Frenkel, who was not receiving medications for one week, suffered a heart attack" - said the other day a businessman's lawyer.
It also emerged that in prison, Israeli businessmen were stubbornly offered non-kosher food, their walks were utterly cut down and sick Frenkel has got the upper bed in the cell, where he can climb with a great difficulty. When all this came to light, Israel, of course, has not tolerated such treatment to their citizens. Its embassy in Georgia has expressed its outrage from rude and ruthless attitude toward Ronnie Fuchs and Zeev Frenkel and appealed to the Ministry of Justice, Punishment and Probation, to the Foreign Ministry and to Ombudsman.
Israeli media has already announced that Tel Aviv is going to punish Georgia for such attitude to the Israelis. A senior official told the newspaper "Maariv", that Israel is considering to raise a question in the Council of Europe on the expulsion of Georgia as its member - for the violation of human rights.
