Saakashvili wants to meet Putin2011-10-13 14:19
Mikheil Saakashvili is willing to see Russian PM Vladimir Putin again after a statement made by French president Nicolas Sarkozy that Russia and Georgia must be friends and partners. Hardly had the guest gone back to Paris when Mishiko announced his readiness to meet with Putin. However, it does not sound like a sensation. As we know, Saakashvili turns to the Russian PM four-five times a year.
He wants but who will let him? - is a phrase from an anecdote that fits the news on Saakashvili's readiness to meet Russian PM Vladimir Putin again.
This time this desire emerged after a visit of the French president. Though the newly sprung "father" of Sakartvelo reiterated support for Saakashvili's policies, he did not forget to mention that he considers Russia a friendly state and a strategic partner. That means Tbilisi and Moscow must make it up and stop hostile rhetoric against each other. Russia must become a partner and a friend to Georgia", - Nicolas Sarkozy emphasized. On the whole, the French leader acted as Cat Leopold inviting to "to live in peace". It had an effect on Mishiko.
Hardly had Sakozy's jet faded away in the sky when Saakashvili stated he is ready to meet the Russian PM. However, he did it in his typical manner of a bully, so it's not quite clear who is more important to whom: Mishiko to Putin or Putin to Mishiko.
"I am ready to meet Vladimir Putin... However, he hasn't left and if he is returning (as Russian president - ed.) I am ready to talk to him any time, - Saakashvili said insolently. - However this should be a talk between leaders of equal nations so that nobody could think it is a forced measure for us, that we were made, bribed or disoriented to do that - it is not impossible. We are not afraid of destabilization, he (Putin - ed) won't be able to do that. We have overcome more serious challenges!" - the Georgian leader exclaimed for Rustavi 2 TV. One might say: cool down, Mishiko! Nobody is going to meet with you so far, stop bullying!
In fact, this meeting is hardly possible. Vladimir Putin definitely is not Mikheil Saakashvili's fan and he does not suffer from the lack of contacts with him. Besides, Mishiko himself set up so many conditions (probably in fear of PM's promises) that one thing is clear - the talk won't take place. In particular, Saakashvili stated he was ready to see Putin only in case Russia pulls out of Abkhazia and South Ossetia and recognizes Georgia's territorial integrity. Only then will Sakartvelo be good to Russians.
