Tbilisi: Georgia doesn’t impede Glukhov’s return

2009-02-25 14:19

Georgian authorities don't intend to hand Sergeant Alexander Glukhov over to Russia, but will not impede his return home, claimed Shota Utiashvili, the Georgian Interior Ministry spokesman, to Interfax.

According to Utiashvili, for humanitarian considerations Georgian authorities granted Glukhov shelter and do not intend to hand him over to Russia under his protest. "If Alexander Glukhov wishes to go to the Motherland, no-one in Georgia impedes him", the spokesman noted.

According to the Ministry, Glukhov is still living in Tbilisi, wants for nothing and is guaranteed all the rights of a person in his status. "Unfortunately, Russian military didn't let Glukhov's mother to come to Tbilisi, and he, in his turn, feared - and not without reason - to go to Tskhinval to meet her ".
