Georgian cows vs. authorities2012-09-28 15:00
Ridiculous things happen during the confrontation between the authorities and the opposition in Georgia: in the villages the cattle belonging to supporters of "Georgian Dream" are deprived of the right for free movement. Our correspondent, who is now in the western part of the country, Guria region, describes us amusing incidents of the election period.
I want to tell you a funny story that I've witnessed the other day, being in Guria. In addition to the teachers, police officers and other public employees, the government has begun to divide the cattle on the political grounds.
"If you are an activist of the "Georgian Dream", your cattle will be left without vaccination. And it is possible that in the future you will be unable to sell eggs", the representatives of the "National Movement" tell the peasants in Guria.
It seems to be funny, but it is sad. Really, the ruling party is already in such a state that has started blackmailing the animals?
I've heard that after the meeting of the local population with Bidzina Ivanishvili his supporters had failed to graze their cattle at the collective pasture. I decided to talk to some farmers to learn the real situation.
In the village of Goraberezhouli the cattle was vaccinated. The day before, the locals were warned to keep the cattle out of the pasture. However, supporters of "Georgian Dream" were nor warned.
"I'm tired. During the whole summer we were ordered not to drive the cows to the pasture. They said, let your Ivanishvili feed up your cows and your family", Leo Osadze, a resident of Guri told us and continued. "Village's attorney told us this. Of course, he was ordered to say this, otherwise, he would not dare".
Another farmer, activist of the "Georgian Dream" Zurab Kotrikadze embroiled in the conversation: "Me and my uncle's family living near were not warned, because we are the activists of "Georgian Dream". Vaccination team was headed personally by the village attorney - Gia Beridze. When we asked why we were left with no warning, he said allegedly we had not been at home. But my parents are at home all the time. Beridze even knows my cell phone number. Previously, we had often contacted with him by phone, until I joined the opposition. Of course, he did it deliberately and specifically. Why our cows are not included in the universal vaccination program? Whether they do not vote for Misha? "National Movement" looks very funny", said Zurab Kotrikadze.
