CEC head sees no necessity in elections
2009-03-04 10:28Levan Tarkhnishvili, the head of Georgia's Central Election Commission sees no necessity in conducting early presidential and parliamentary elections in 2009 - Interfax.
The Central Election Commission is ready to hold them, but there is no need for them this year, Tarkhnishvili said yesterday.
He added that early presidential elections of 2008 cost the state GEL 20 mln (USD 12 mln), parliamentary elections 2008 - GEL 28 mln.
A few weeks ago Saakashvili commented upon the opposition's demand to hold early parliamentary and presidential elections and said that they will cost GEL 500 mln, and there were no such funds in the state budget.
