Ivanishvili's money - to Kakhetians2012-12-20 19:19
Bidzina Ivanishvili has returned the sum he had paid as a fine in the pre-election period - 80 million GEL. As the Prime promised, soon the money will be used to compensate the victims of the disaster in Kakheti. Five months have passed since the day when the devastating hail and storm fell upon the Kakhetians, but the damage has not yet been covered.
The payment of compensation to victims of severe hail and storm on July 19 starts in January next year. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Tengiz Shergelashvili: "We are getting information on acres, find out the amount of damage. Then we'll define the average yield rates, prices in the market and a number of other indicators. At the same time we'll find out the amount of compensations the victims have already got, how much they have earned from selling surviving crop, the amount of compensations by insurance, and by the means of a simple mathematical formula we'll calculate the amount of damage to each family. We want to get the first results by December 21. Subsequent processing of the results depends on this, and then we'll be able
to decide when the issuing of compensation starts. If this is not done until the end of December, anyway we're still going to begin this process in January, at least partially and gradually", the Deputy Minister said.
In the first phase the restoration of the roofs of houses is planned. In the second phase the amount of agricultural damage will be determined. To do this in every village there works a commission consisting of 7-10 people, including an attorney, local residents and the self-government officials. They will draw an official act for each family, including the amount of sown hectares and the inflicted damage.
In regions of Telavi, Gurjaani, Sagarejo, Kvareli, Lagodekhi and nearby villages the commissions consisting of local residents are already operating.
Recall, on July 19, storm and hail fell upon the region of Kakheti. About 1,200 houses have completely or partially lost the roofs. The hail has also damaged grapes, fruit trees and vegetables. In the villages of Velistsikhe, Vazisubani, Shashiani, Kalauri and Vachnadziani the hail has destroyed 100% of yield. Poultry and animals were killed, infrastructure has suffered.
