Second life of Georgian resort2013-03-20 16:08
Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is preparing a project for the revival of the Georgian resort Tskhaltubo, well known to every citizen of the post-Soviet countries. The mineral water from this resort town was a symbol of healthy life. No wonder that water from Tskhaltubo is called "living water". After sad 90s, a part of the beautiful resort has been transformed into a haven for refugees from Abkhazia.
The old Georgian government has lots of claims to the new government. Most often Saakashvili and Ivanishvili fail to agree over the grand-scale construction projects of the president. And suspension of the infrastructure projects by new government has become the constant target for criticism of the new government on the part of the "Nationals". Georgian president has repeatedly expressed regret over the failure of the construction of roads, hotels, and even entire cities.
But the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Davit Narmania argues that despite the constant abstract criticism, to date, none of the parliamentary minority members have shown interest in connection with projects. And their statements are often unsubstantiated.
"With regard to the rehabilitation of the cities, we know that after the election the rehabilitation of 2 of them - the cities of Kvareli and Telavi - stopped. Though the World Bank has committed $ 100 million for their rehabilitation, there were recorded multiple violations in connection with private property", explained Davit Narmania.
Ath the same time, rehabilitation of the resort town of Tskhaltubo starts in the near future. This was stated by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia. Tender for the restoration of Kutaisi has already been announced. The government has allocated 100 million GEL, so now it's time for the construction companies to act. It is unknown how many companies will take part in the tender, but the news that Tskhaltubo is going to regain the title of international resort has already spread throughout Georgia. This information has been joyfully received by the Georgian population.
Resident of Tskhaltubo, dentist Tina Kintsurashvili shared her emotions with GeorgiaTimes reporter. "The main thing is to return to our city an original form. People from all over the Soviet Union came here to get treatment. These sources cure everything: gastro-intestinal disease, gall bladder, kidneys, joints and so on. In short, all diseases. Thanks to Tskhaltubo I have acquired many friends, and still communicate with them. We are very happy that rehabilitation of our city begins", says Tina.
